University of Vienna

Universitätsring 1, 1010 Vienna

The venue for the ECM 32 is planned to be within the main building of the University of Vienna, which is situated on Vienna’s central Ringstraße boulevard. Located within Vienna’s historic centre, the main building is easy to reach by public transport.

We pre-allocated 16 lecture halls and meeting rooms for the planned conference week, i.e. 18. - 23. August 2019. The “Arkadenhof” area (arcaded courtyard) in the ground floor is considered for exhibition, poster sessions (300 poster boards) and all the catering for lunch and coffee breaks.

Vienna University of Technology

Karlsplatz 13, 1040 Vienna

The Vienna University of Technology is anticipated to host the various satellite events in the week preceeding the ECM congress, i.e. 12. - 16. August 2019. The main building is also located in the centre of Vienna, only 30 minutes walking distance from the congress site.

A variety of lecture halls and seminar rooms are situated in the building. Based on the idea to create a “meeting point” for all parallel satellites we plan to have a central place (“Festsaal”), where all coffee breaks and lunch will be served and exchange between crystallographers can take place.

Orangery at Schönbrunn Palace (Conference Dinner)

Schloß Schönbrunn, Apothekertrakt, 1130 Wien

One hundred and eighty-nine metres long and ten metres wide, the Schönbrunn Orangery is one of the two largest Baroque orangeries in the world, the other being at Versailles.

As far back as the time of the dowager empress Wilhelmine Amalie an orangery garden was established at Schönbrunn which included a hothouse for overwintering the tender citrus trees. In 1754 Franz I Stephan instigated the building of the Orangery by Nikolaus Pacassi, probably to designs by Nicolas Jadot.

Here, the Conference Dinner of the ECM32 congress will take place on 21. August 2019, starting at 7:30 p.m.
